Getting there
Park in the village (St Kenelm's Church has some limited parking, or there are some on street spaces. Walk up the road from the Old Swan Inn past the church. It's a 20mph road and quiet. Look for the footpath signposted towards Crawley on the right, from here you can walk a 6km loop across the field and up to Crawley, along the road, then along the river, or head straight to look around the ruins.

Getting there

Park at the Upper Wyndcliff Car Park (postcode NP16 6HG) to avoid climbing the steps - you can still go down them if you want (although some are metal and dogs may have trouble). If you go up to the Eagle's Nest first, double back on yourself to return to the car park then cross over to reach the Giants and Otters Caves.

Mad Dog Visited in Aug 2026	Lovely cool walk through the trees - we didn't make it to the caves this time as it got very hot and we went the wrong way at first! Follow the All Trails guide carefully. Good to know Car park isn't huge but was quiet at 9am on a Sunday.

Getting there
Birling Gap car park (~130 spaces) is closest but small and often full by mid-late morning on sunny weekends (no coach parking). Exceat/Seven Sisters Country Park is a larger backup with EV charging, a flatter ~2km walk to the Cuckmere valley viewpoint. Both locked overnight, no overnight parking.

Main viewpoint trail from car park is surfaced, gently sloped, ~200m. Longer waymarked trails lead downhill (steeper) to the River Wye and Biblins suspension bridge. Gruffalo-themed orienteering trail for kids. Dogs allowed throughout.

The full walk is about 7 miles (4 hours) but various trails are available. It's the part of the South West Coast Path from Penberth to Pothgwarra. Farm shop and cafe near the car park. Amazing campsite but can't be booked in advance - have to just turn up early and hope.

Getting there
The postcode TR19 6LF is for the parking at Treen. To start, go out of the car park and back up the road you came, then turn right following the sign for Penberth. The trail leads through Penberth, then follow the coast path to the right to go past beautiful beaches: Pedn Vounder, Porthcurno, Porthchapel, and Porthgwarra. The trail circles back to the car park from Porthgwarra.
Accessibility notes
Full walk varies: from Treen to Porthcurno is marked as suitable for dedicated off-road scooters/wheelchairs/pushchairs only as the track is narrow and grooved in places. Some beaches are accessed via steps.

It is quite dark in some places, and smaller areas got a bit busy. Cafe was great! :) Good to know Parking at the Fruit Market is easy to get to and there's a lot more space - the official car park was full by 11am on a Saturday. Keep an eye out in the car park for a surprise before you even get in, we missed it on our way in!
